Don't love your books, read them

I love my books. I take great care of them. Whenever I buy a book whether it is a fiction or a non-fiction, I have this habit of using a cover. I take great caution while reading so that the book doesn't get dogeared.

Today I remember an instance which happened when I was in high school. It was about 20 years back. One of my dad's friend had paid us a visit. I remember him say this over a cup of tea, "Don't love your books. Read them, flip them over and over again. Books are made for that. If a book gets torn in the process, you will get another one in the market. It is more important to absorb the contents of the book rather than caring for it".

What a great piece of advice that was!
